Robert Fitterman
Collective tasks start on March 1, 2006, each member of this project will propose a task on the first of each month for the group to complete. Each group member will interpret or execute the task in any way and thru any medium (text, sound files, images, etc.). One of the few ground rules will be that the end of each month is a strict deadline. At the end of each month, each member will send me his or her piece. At the end of the year, we'll publish and/or present publicly our 10 collective tasks.
TASK 06: Get on your safety gear (or take it off) and wade your geographic particulars. Read these before you head out….

I am Beginning to Write Out My Memories of Frogs

Chillicothe, Ohio: A jar full of tadpoles that eventually grow legs
before they die.

Chillicothe, Ohio: Frogs in aquariums at the local pet store.

Circleville, Ohio: A small greenish frog in the filter of the
chlorinated swimming pool. Thinking, they breathe with their skin; is it
breathing chlorine? My eyes hurt from the chlorine.

Annandale, New York: He pulled his hand from mine in order to catch a
toad. It was brown, small, covered in dust.

Annandale, New York: An art show where the artist had collected road
kill and then framed them with elaborate small glass tile frames in a
sort of Grecian style. Several featured frogs.

Honolulu, Hawai‘i: The ko-KEE sound of the bullfrog all night. The next
morning eggs in the shallow pool with fake waterfall that the neighbors
have built beside their deck. They drain the pool the next day.

Honolulu, Hawai‘i: Many big coqui frogs flattened and dried on roads.

Atlantic Highlands, New Jersey: A small colorful African frog at the
bottom of the aquarium. It was not there the next time we visited.

Oakland, Califonia: Looking for the small beige frogs in the barrel of
water outside the restaurant where we go for Thai food.
